Lakeland .NET Blog Entries

As you know the Lakeland .NET User Group has moved our meetings to USF Polytechnic because of rapid growth.  We still have a solid group of experienced members, but we also have attracted more junior and entry level members as a result of the move.  The head of the computer science program is now asking students to attend at least 2 meetings per quarter.  In order to meet this new demand for entry level topics, we would like to put out a call for speakers who are willing to speak on 100/200 level topics related to .NET.

We still have a demand for 300/400 level topics also.  If you are interested please let me know.  We are expecting enough people that we could divide the room and have two speakers (it has a divider) – or we could also do the usual and have one speaker – just depends on who expresses interest.  We are really hoping for a topic that is appealing to a group of people with diverse levels of experience.  I have a speaker for March and April, but nothing beyond that.

Please shoot off an email if you can help!

Re: Lakeland .NET User Group Call for Speakers (100/200 Level)

What are some examples of 100/200 level seminars that are appropriate for the group?

Re: Lakeland .NET User Group Call for Speakers (100/200 Level)

Good question. Off of the top of my head, I'd say .NET basics, OO basics, Architecture for developers (101), ASP.NET, C#/VB.NET language basics, patterns and practices 101...

I want to keep the range of topics wide. Perhaps we could divide the room and have two topics at the same time (100/200 and 300/400).

Re: Lakeland .NET User Group Call for Speakers (100/200 Level)

I just commented on another post about this topic. In short: How about pairing it up with RampUp lessons [http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/rampup/default.aspx] and providing a "online preview" with links to resources?

I think the marrow of the User Group is that knowledge that comes with the Q&A or those insightful workflow hints that great speakers share - the sort of thing that goes over your head if the all material is completely new.
